Cookie Policy

This page explains what we store on your device, why, how long it stays, and how to remove it. It names each item rather than describing categories, because "we may use cookies to improve your experience" tells you nothing you could act on.

The short version: nearly everything PromptForge stores is kept locally in your own browser and never sent to us. You can use the courses, prompt library, glossary, model index and every free tool without an account, and in that case nothing is set that identifies you.

What we store ourselves

Most of what PromptForge stores is local storage, not cookies. It never leaves your browser unless you sign in and choose to sync.

• pf_progress_* — which lessons and project steps you have completed
• pf_gamify — your streak, XP and badges
• pf_bookmarks — items you have saved
• pf_flags — local feature toggles, used for development

These persist until you clear your browser data or use the reset controls in the app. None of them is sent to a server while you are signed out, which is why your progress does not follow you to another device unless you create an account.

If you create an account, a session cookie from our authentication provider keeps you signed in. It holds a session identifier and an expiry, not personal data, and it lasts until you sign out or it expires. Clearing it signs you out and nothing else — your progress is stored against your account, not against the cookie.

What we deliberately do not use

We do not run analytics that profile individual visitors, we do not use tracking pixels from social networks, and we do not sell or share what we store with data brokers. There is no cross-site tracking on this site because we do not operate any other sites to track you across.

Third parties that may set cookies

• Google — sign-in, and advertising cookies if you see ads on this site
• Cloudflare Turnstile — bot protection on sign-up and login forms
• Supabase — authentication session

Where we display advertising, Google and its partners may use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. You can opt out of personalised advertising in Google Ads Settings.

Controlling cookies

Every major browser lets you view, block and delete cookies and local storage in its settings, usually under Privacy, Security or Site Settings. You can also clear only this site's data without touching anything else, which is generally the option you want.

It is worth knowing what breaks. Blocking cookies signs you out and prevents sign-up and login from working, because the bot-protection check and the session both depend on them. Clearing local storage resets your streak, XP, completed lessons and saved bookmarks on that device — permanently, if you were not signed in, since there is no server-side copy to restore from.

Everything else keeps working. The courses, prompt library, glossary, model index, blog and all the free tools are readable and usable with cookies blocked and no account, because none of them needs to know who you are.

If you use an ad blocker

Ad and tracker blockers will stop the advertising and bot-protection scripts described above. The site is built to work without them: the tools run entirely in your browser, and pages are pre-rendered, so blocking third-party scripts costs you nothing except the ads. We would rather say that plainly than nag you to disable it.

Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control

We do not track you across other websites, so there is nothing for a Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signal to switch off on our side. We honour both where the third parties above support them. Neither signal is universally respected across the web, which is a limitation of the standards rather than a choice we are making.

Changes to this policy

If we add a service that sets cookies, this page changes before it ships rather than after. When that happens the new item is named here in the same detail as the existing ones. If you want to check what has changed, the whole site is version-controlled and the history is public.
