Plan a Month of Content Without Burning Out
Build a content calendar grounded in a small set of themes rather than thirty unrelated ideas. Includes the repurposing pass that most people skip and then wonder why the work feels endless.
Why this one
Asking for thirty post ideas gets you thirty disconnected posts, no audience memory, and a month of starting from nothing each day. Four themes explored from several angles builds recognition and cuts the work by more than half.
Steps
Choose four themes you can defend
Pick four topics you have genuine knowledge or opinions about. Four, not ten: repetition is what makes an audience associate you with a subject, and ten themes is indistinguishable from none.
Generate angles inside each theme
Each theme gets several treatments — a how-to, a contrarian take, a mistake you made, a comparison, a beginner explainer. Angles inside a theme compound; unrelated topics do not.
PromptTheme: [one of your four] Audience: [who reads this] My actual experience with it: [two lines] Give me 8 different angles on this one theme: how-to, contrarian, a mistake and its lesson, a comparison, a beginner explainer, a myth corrected, a checklist, a short case study. One line each. Ground them in my stated experience — do not invent expertise I did not claim.
Map angles to a calendar
Distribute so consecutive posts are not the same format. Two how-tos in a row read as a series; four read as a rut. Leave two slots empty on purpose for whatever happens that month.
Add the repurposing pass
For each substantial piece, plan the derivatives before writing: the short version, the visual, the reply-to-a-question version. Planning them up front changes how you write the original, which is the whole benefit.
Batch the drafting
Draft all posts for one theme in a single sitting. Context switching between unrelated topics is where the time goes, and a model already loaded with one theme's context produces better second and third drafts.
You should end up with
A month of planned content grouped into four themes with repurposing mapped.
Done when
- Every piece belongs to one of four themes
- No two consecutive posts use the same format
- Each substantial piece has at least two planned derivatives
If you want to go further
- Add a monthly review comparing what you planned to what you published
- Build a swipe file of the angles that performed best
